MGWS students and staff celebrated the joy of books and reading this morning.  4th and 5th graders headed off in mixed groups to rooms all over the school, and there they read books, participated in reader’s theater, and made bookmarks. Intriguing quotes were noted and posted in the cafeteria, and favorite books were discussed during group booktalks.

The PTO hosted an ice cream smorgasbord after lunch which was enjoyed by all!

The thermometer registered -1 degrees when “Walk to School” got underway this morning!  Students and teachers (and even our hearty assistant superintendent of schools, Mrs. Sullivan) braved the temperatures and icy sidewalks and they were rewarded with a cup of cocoa when they arrived at school!

Friday was Mr. Spring’s last day as a long-term sub for Mrs. Starkey. He was a wonderful additional to our staff and he will be missed. The staff gathered for a breakfast in order to say goodbye. Of course, we’re hoping he will be back often to substitute…
