Yesterday students husked hundreds of ears of corn in preparation for a Maine feast at lunch time.  Students were served a meal of meatloaf, corn, blueberries and milk, with all of the food grown or produced locally.

Did you know that learning to play music makes you smarter?  Well, according to Psychological Science, it’s true!

All of the 4th and some of the 5th graders headed off to the cafeteria to see a Band Demonstration by the “Music and Arts Center” today.  Students heard some great tunes played on the band instruments by 2 very silly men:-)

The MGWS band practices every week and performs for students and parents once in December and again in June.   Our very patient and talented band teacher, Mr. Miller starts with the basics (opening the case and assembling the instrument) and by the end of the year the kids are playing full songs – very impressive!

September has arrived and with it comes colder temps, buses and… our new 4th and 5th graders!  Students headed to the gym for a quick pep talk from Mr. Burnell and then our day was underway.  There is excitement in the air here at MGWS…:-)
