There were a lot of rosy cheeks walking down Academy Street this morning! Our spirits were high and the cocoa was warm. It was a great way to start a Wednesday:-)

but our kids took a risk

they proceeded with vigor

The final “Walk to School Day” of the 08-09 school was today.  The weather cooperated and there was definitely a summer-is-coming excitement in the air!

FINALLY –  A day worthy of being our walk to school day! Spring is in the air and everyone is smiling in anticipation of a week’s vacation…

It’s seems that our walk-to-school days are destined to hold cold and dreary weather!  Today’s walk was damp and foggy, yet our hardy students and teachers once again took to the streets of South Berwick!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

In anticipation of warmer, springlike weather, our kitchen crew had prepared refreshing glasses of lemonade:-)  Perhaps next time…

The thermometer registered -1 degrees when “Walk to School” got underway this morning!  Students and teachers (and even our hearty assistant superintendent of schools, Mrs. Sullivan) braved the temperatures and icy sidewalks and they were rewarded with a cup of cocoa when they arrived at school!

Walking to school this morning was not for the faint of heart!  It was only 20 degrees outside and the brisk wind made it feel much colder.

Despite the daunting weather, students, parents and staff once again headed out and walked to school!

Today’s warm temperatures and changing leaves were a perfect setting for “Wlak to School Day”. Central School students were dropped off at MGWS and MGWS students were dropped off at Central, and the hike down Academy Street was on!

Children once again lined Academy Street for our second walk to school day this morning.

They were greeted by teachers and hot cocoa in the cafeteria upon their arrival at school. What a wonderful way to start the day!

Despite the dreary weather, MGWS students and staff came out in droves to walk to school! Crowds of students and staff could be seen strolling the sidewalks along Academy Street.

Once at school, all were invited into the cafeteria where Mrs. Visciano and Mrs. Higgins served up warm hot cocoa.

All in all, it was a great way to start the day and end the week!
